Founded in 2008, Recovery Academy (RA) is a nonprofit program serving those in the Kent County community who are recovering from addictions, trauma, and persistent illnesses (both mental and physical). Since the opening of our doors, Recovery Academy has impacted the lives of over 600 participants in the greater Grand Rapids area.
Each week, our program offers a wide variety of classes, activities, and support groups that are tailored to the individualized needs of participants. In addition, Recovery Academy provides meaningful mentoring “for people in recovery by people in recovery”. Students who join Recovery Academy can find the support and life skills needed to recover and manage addiction, trauma, and persistent mental illness on a daily basis.
Recovery Academy’s focus is on abilities, not disabilities. We help people discover their strengths and develop new ones to create a meaningful life.
All of Recovery Academy’s programs free to anyone interested in improving their lives. No referral is necessary and all that is needed is the motivation to grow and help others grow.
