Support Groups

We host multiple support groups each week at Recovery Academy. Our students often attend a combination of support groups and classes. If you are interested in joining a support group, simply arrive 15 minutes early and fill out a short survey.

DBT

DBT Support Group – Fridays 2:15-3:30.  Sharpen your DBT Skills!

This support group is for people who have successfully graduated from DBT programs.  Continue on your path toward recovery by sharing with others who have similar experiences. The group will be mutually supportive in reminding and improving learned DBT skills.

Dual Recovery

Dual Recovery Support Group – Tuesdays 2:45-4:30 & Thursdays 5:00-6:30.

Do you have mental health and/or addiction difficulties? The Dual Recovery Support Group will help you achieve and maintain your recovery.  This is not a traditional 12 step group, but has many of the 12 step ideals. The group begins with a brief informational topic followed by group discussion and support.  Follow the recovery path!

Meet and share with other men on topics that are significant to us; identity, loneliness, boundaries, anger, depression, culture, dealing with loss, relationships, etc.

Pathways to Recovery – Fridays 11:00-12:30. 

This class will help you plan and achieve personal goals, and attain a higher quality of life.  This course offers methods of reclaiming or enhancing a more fulfilling lifestyle by building on personal strengths, skills and abilities.

Peer Art Study Group

Peer Art Study Group – Mondays & Fridays 12:30-2:30.

A fun way to explore self-expression through art while enjoying the companionship of fellow artists.  Work on your own projects while giving and receiving helpful tips.  Open to all regardless of experience;  watercolor, acrylic, pencil, chalk, color, knit, collage, jewelry almost any media welcome except pottery or oils.

Personal Money Management

Personal Money Management – Thursdays 1:45-2:45.

This class will explore your past spending habits and provide tips on improving and maintaining a budget.  You will learn how to:  balance a check book, create a personal budget, make wise spending choices, have savings and more!  Participants will share ideas and use hands on exercises.  This class will teach you how to prepare a weekly, monthly, and yearly budget.

Schizophrenics Anonymous – Tuesdays 1:30-2:30.

This ongoing group is facilitated by persons with schizophrenia and/or schizoaffective disorders.  It provides hope and inspiration to those who live with these disorders through discussion and support.  You will feel welcomed and encouraged in your recovery.

Trauma Support – Wednesdays 2:00-3:30.

Traumatic stress is a mental condition triggered by the experience of frightening events.  The intention of this self-directed group is to nurture a safe, confidential, and supportive environment for those who experience traumatic stress.
